KOJA Blog
Ah Australia Day: friends, family and food! We love a good BBQ but we’re always cautious when it comes to BBQ foods. More often than not the table is full of processed chips, lollies and soft drinks, not the kind of things we want to put in our bodies! Our approach to healthy eating at a BBQ is simple, bring your own food and wow everyone with your delicious healthy alternatives. Not only will you ensure you’ve got some healthy, tasty options that will leave you feeling nourished but you’ve also got a captive audience to try that healthy dessert you’ve been working on.
Here are our suggestions for healthy food to take to your Australia Day BBQ
Start the party with our Chia Seed Crackers. Team them with a delicious homemade dip or some local cheeses. Or even serve up any of our Salad Toppers in a little bowl. They make great nibbles and the protein and fibre will help keep you full and satisfied so that you avoid the other not so healthy snack options!
BBQ’s and salads just go together. We love taking our Pear & Blue Cheese Salad or our Rice Noodle Salad With Chilli, Coconut & Pecan. Both are tried and tested crowd pleasers. Fill up on veggies and healthy proteins and you’ll feel happy and healthy all day long!
#3 A Decadent, Wholefoods Dessert
It wouldn’t be a party without dessert! Skip the sugar laden cakes and try our healthy dessert options that are refined sugar free, and full of nourishing wholefoods. Our Cacao & Avocado Mousse is always a crowd pleaser. These Raw Cacao & Fig Balls are rich, decadent and great for sharing! If you really want to go all out, try our Chocolate Chickpea Cake and ask everyone to guess what they think it’s made of.
We hope these recipe ideas have given you a bit of inspiration for your Australia Day catch up or BBQ with family and friends. If you have a healthy BBQ recipe you’d like to share, we’d love to hear from you!
